James Bond 24 Gets a Title, a Poster, and a Synopsis

The next time we see Daniel Craig playing British super-spy James Bond in the 24th installment of the film series, he will be taking on the SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion , otherwise known as SPECTRE. Here’s the poster and more.

James Bond 24 Spectre

Now, I’m not one to call foul on much, especially such an early piece of news about a sequel in a film franchise that I simply adore, but I’m a big fan and I have to call stuff out when I see it.

This is SPECTRE’s logo from back in the day.

Does that look familiar? How about now?

PrintYup, that’s the Hydra Logo from Marvel Studios blockbuster series of entertainment. Now, I’m not saying anything definitive here. SPECTRE appeared in Ian Fleming’s Bond novels (Thunderball 1961) at least 3 years before Lee and Kirby introduced Hydra in Strange Tales #135 in 1965, but the current popularity of evil counter-espionage agencies is worth pointing out.

Christoph Waltz is confirmed to be playing a badguy, and, with this news, it’s presumably the leader of SPECTRE, but there’s some confusion there, as he’s listed as playing a character named Oberhauser, not Blofeld.

Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx the henchman may be worth the price of admission!

Here’s the official synopsis:

A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
