Taylor: Runaways #2
With issue 1, this book showed all the signs of keeping up the legacy of Runaways by offering a cast of young characters that don’t get stuck in mopey spirals of self-pity, which is wonderful treat for a teen-centered book. That might sound like I’m damning it with feint praise, but it really is off to a great start with fun characters and great creative talent, making it one of my favorite Secret Wars tie-ins so far.
• Of course, Battleworld’s equivalent of a final exam is a brutal deathmatch between students!
• But don’t worry, y’all, Molly Hayes has totally got this. No matter what Jubilee says about her being too young or “in way over her head.” She’s frickin’ Princess Powerful!
David: Saga #30
It’s the conclusion to the fifth story arc of the series. There’s so much I want to see happen in this one issue. I really hope all the stories from this arc get some closure this issue. Because I’ve got a feeling that this will be the last issue of the series for a while. Considering that both Staples and Vaughn are working on other projects, the Archie relaunch and We Stand On Guard respectively. My gut tells me there’s going to be a wait for issue #31.
Gaumer: Big Man Plans #4
A little man on a big rampage, and it all ends here! Eric Powell has been telling a truly wonderful tale for anyone who has ever felt crapped on because they were different, and I’m anxious to see this violent, revenge-filled rampage come to the bloody end. I’m not sure how he’ll top the last issue, but utter brutality of an order unseen is on the menu if it does. Man, I hope it does.
The shocking conclusion where the true motive of Big Man’s bloody rampage is revealed!
Adam: Civil War #1
Charles Soule. Leinil Yu. Arguably one of the biggest events of all time. Enough said.
Jules: Lando #1
Charles Soule and Alex Maleev. Come on. Marvels Star Wars has been stellar. And I just know this mini series is gonna be rad. No brainier for me this week. Charles Soule has had a hot hand in a dice game for me for a while and I just know this gonna be a wonderfully fun series. Plus Alex Maleev’s Art has always been a high selling point for me everytime he touches a book. So this one is an easy one.
