Convergence Roundup: Week 2

Convergence Roundup: Week 2

This week, the focus of the Convergence tie-ins fall squarely on the Zero Hour time period. With that in mind, many of these issues have a very 90’s feel to them, especially considering that one of the cities that Zero Hour Metropolis has to fight is the San Diego from Jim Lee’s Wildstorm universe. Overall, I think the quality of the tie-ins are better this week than last week, but there were also no stand outs like last week’s Question #1. Just in case you missed how awesome that issue is then you can see all my thoughts about it and last week’s other tie-ins here.

Convergence Roundup: Week 1

As the resident DC guy and most likely the only reader of Convergence at Outright Geekery, the responsibility falls on me to fill you in on this event. Unfortunately, Convergence is so huge and has so many different tie ins that there is no way I can give each issue a full length review with the exception of the main series which can be found here. With that out of the way, lets review some tie ins.

Review: Batman #39

Written by Scott Snyder with James Tynion IV

Art by Greg Capullo, Danny Miki, and FCO Plascancia with Dustin Nguyen, Derek Fridolfs, and Dave McCaig

Things are not looking great for Batman. The city is infected with a Joker virus, the Joker may or may not be unkillable, and now the only people he has left to go to for help is the Court of Owls. Things couldn’t possibly go bad, right?

Top o’ the Lot: Comic Book Movie Soundtracks

From time to time Outright Geekery brings you a slanted and biased opinion on some trivially specific topic of geekery. We call it Outright Geekery’s Top o’ the Lot.

Music is the heart and soul of film. Its importance simply cannot be understated. With just a few bars from the score a film can changes the mood completely, and a great soundtrack can take a movie-lover back to those onscreen moments without ever having to turn on a screen. And since we’re all about the geek, our movies of choice are of the comic book persuasion. So, without further ado, we just pick all of those, adore original songs, and can’t help but love the classics, in Outright Geekery’s Top o’ the Lot: Comic Book Movie Soundtracks. DC Weekly: 12/31/14

I‘m back! Sorry about last week, folks, but with Christmas, family coming in, and a particularly bad stomach bug, I didn’t have the time to put out a DC Weekly. All things are back to normal in the household, though so I’m back just in time for DC to be closed for the week… Well at least they still put out their weekly titles but that’s it.
