It’s been a rumor for a few days now, but at Wizard World Nashville on Saturday, which Outright Geekery is covering, William Shatner confirmed that he was in fact contacted by J.J. Abrams about appearing in Star Trek 3.
“I’m calling because the director of Star Trek, the next movie, has had an idea where you might be involved, so I’m calling to find out whether you would be interested,” Shatner said, quoting Abrams during a phone call a couple of weeks ago.
“It depends on what you do with the character, but I would be delighted,” Shatner replied. Shatner said he was sworn to secrecy, and also said, …”they might want Leonard and myself in it. But I would love to do it.”
Shatner went on to question just how director Robert Orci would fit a 50 year in the future Captain Kirk into the film, and we can’t help but wonder the same thing.
