Celebrate 50 Years of S.H.I.E.L.D. With Marvel Comics in 2015!

Celebrate half a century of Marvel’s premier intelligence agency in 2015 as we proudly commemorate the S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary! When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first introduced S.H.I.E.L.D. in the pages of 1965’s Strange Tales #135, boldly proclaiming it “The Greatest Action-Thriller of All Time!” – the landscape of the Marvel Universe would be changed forever. Now, half a century later, S.H.I.E.L.D. has made the jump beyond the comic page – bringing us some of the most iconic stories and memorable characters in all of popular culture. Jules: Ultimate FF #2

Picking up the pieces as the Ultimate Universe is in disarray! New Jersey was destroyed by Galactus. S.H.I.E.L.D. was disassembled thanks to law suits. The original Ultimates have called it a day with a teen squad taking their place. The FF now are all that stands between destruction and the world. Iron Man, Falcon, Invisible Woman, Machine Man, and Doom?…. Yes this title is going in all the right places already. A kick in the pants the Ultimate Universe has needed for quite sometime! I’m picking it up and I’m hoping you do too!

Taylor: Thor: God of Thunder #22

Maintaining its position as the king of my pull list, Thor: God of Thunder hits the shelves this week. This issue comes at a key point for both of our parallel story arches, as we now move on to the fallout of both Roxxon’s nefarious takeover and King Thor’s bout with Galactus. This title continues to impress month after month, and I have no reason to doubt that this issue will deliver as well.

Christian: Futures End #3

I know what you’re all thinking but yes I have a pick of the week. Futures end has been pretty interesting for me as a DC fan, and I’m hoping in this issue to see Terry finding out more about Brother Eye and how to stop this world changing event from ever happening. Hopefully we get all more action in this issue to balance out the death of a beloved archer.

Did Firestorm kill a member of the Justice League? Who is watching Batman Beyond? And why is Frankenstein living in an igloo?!

Gaumer: Forever Evil #7

Wait! What is that? It can’t be. I thought it was a myth, like Watchmen 2, or that Stan Lee is an actual LMD, but it’s happening. Forever Evil is finally wrapping up, and it’s about time. Delayed for at least 2 months, and subsequently throwing off the launch schedule of a huge part of the DC line, I’m still excited to see how they wrap this whole thing up. I DO have to go back and re-read the previous issues for a refresher, but I’m hoping that’s the worst part of this great, albeit really late, event.

Jules: Ultimate FF #1

I’ve gotta say I’m really looking forward to see what Fikalov does with his third of the Ultimate Universe. Coming off the heels of Cataclysm, the Ultimate Universe’s Iron Man, Invisible Woman, Falcon, Machine Man? do what our 616 FF did once: and that is build a foundation for the betterment of the future. I just think its awesome, especially since their S.H.I.E.L.D. is now defunct. The cast is cool, the concept seems solid, I’m looking forward to this one.

Christian: Sinestro #1

As much as I’m looking forward to Batman Eternal #2, that’s probably going to be something I could say every week, and the move DC has made to give Sinestro his own title may just turn yellow light into gold. Surely this book is spinning out of Forever Evil, but I really want to see the direction Cullen Bunn plans on taking the character, and with Dale Eaglesham an art, it’ll be good either way.

Can he take back the despicable Yellow Lantern Corps? Or does the universe have a new destiny in mind for Sinestro?

Gaumer: Justice League #29

Yes, the Justice League is still a thing at DC Comics. Although it’s been bogged down in the creative quagmire that is Forever Evil, I’ve enjoyed the event overall, and at least some of the tie-ins, but JL has been one of the best. I’m excited to see the ball get rolling again, but I’m not sure if it’s because the event is so good or I just want it to be over already. Either way, this book is at the top of my stack this week.
