As mentioned in my Geek Picks for October 29th, I picked up Critical Hit issue #1 after it was recommended to me by Gaumer. I didn’t know at the time this was the follow-up to another series called Liberators, and now I will have to pick up a trade or hunt down the back issues of Liberators. Consider that a testimony to how much I am enjoying Critical Hit. Here’s a preview.

Advanced Review: Critical Hit #1

Critical Hit #1Comic book publisher Black Mask Studios isn’t your typical comic company. Black Mask is a creator-centric studio, meaning they support comic creators in ways that the Big 2 couldn’t even come close to. But Black Mask is also designed to be a new pipeline for transgressive art, and, in an industry dominated by norms, Black Mask Studios is dedicated to going against the grain and pushing the boundaries of sequential art for the sheer sake of the art-form itself. So, when Black Mask Studios sent us an advanced copy of their upcoming comic book Critical Hit and asked us to review it, we were more than happy to oblige. Here’s our spoiler-free review.
