From time to time Outright Geekery brings you a slanted and biased opinion on some trivially specific topic of geekery. We call it Outright Geekery’s Top o’ the Lot.
Since Ironman in 2008, to last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy, to the scheduled Inhumans of 2019, Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is an achievement unlike any other. A universe shared between dozens of films is something geeks will continue to enjoy until at least 2019, but I have to wonder what’s coming next. There are so many Marvel characters to choose from for the next addition to the MCU, so I narrowed this list down a bit to only include character that haven’t yet been introduced. This means no Black Widow, Winter Soldier, or Nick Fury standalone films on this Lot. Do you remember M.A.S.K.? The Mobile Armored Strike Kommand was kind of a big thing in the 1980s with a toyline, a cartoon, and even a comic book series dedicated to the brand, but, for who don’t recall M.A.S.K., it was kind of like G.I. Joe crossed with Transformers with a bit of techno-magic tossed in for good measure. Army guys drove and flew around in vehicles that would turn into other vehicles (Example: The dune buggy that changed into a glider), and the army guys wore helmets that gave them powers that seemed magically but were actually technological. It was odd, but actually pretty awesome. The combination of crazy just worked, and independent filmmaker Dave Guivant is bringing that awesome to you in 2016 with a fan-made film. We’re continuing to look forward to 2015, and this year looks to be a great one for movies. There’s a lot coming to theaters this year, including some new superhero flicks, reboots, remakes, and redux galore, and some soon-to-be fan-favorite new franchises, promising a well-rounded and fun time at the movies. Here’s the top 10 films we’re most excited to see in 2015.
