What are the best single issue characterizations I have ever read? Gilad is a man of few words, but has much to say. A nomad. A drifter. A warrior.

Matt Kindt has delivered unto us readers a page out of Gilad’s life story. A glimpse of forgotten history told through the eyes of a wanderer. This is storytelling. A tale told from the roots of the character.

The art team of Pere Perez and Brian Reber show us the story in perfect detail. from the sparsely worded panels to the wide time lapsing panels, each showing us just how alone our warrior is.

The cover art does a great job of drawing the readers in by showing a battle scene (in fantastic detail) without giving away any of the story inside. This is probably the best single issue of garage character development. I was just floored by the fact that no matter how many friends he has, ultimately, he is eternally alone.
