Review: Unity #18

Writer: Matt Kindt
Artist: Pere Perez
Colorist: Andrew Dalhouse
Letterer: Dave Sharpe
Cover Artists: Pere Perez, David Baron, Philip Tan, Jordan Boyd, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, David Garcia Cruz, Joe Eisma, Allen Passalaqua

The team is as fit as there ever can be, and it is wearing them down. It takes them bringing in an unstable superpowered individual to show them, and others, that they need some rest.

Matt let’s us see just how hard Neville has been running the team. His writing also shows us how Unity really doesn’t need any outside help. He also shows us, yet again, just how badass Ninjak is. Fantastic job!

Artist Pere Perez and Colorist Andrew Dalhouse do a great job. They manage to convey just how tired the team is. It’s like, “Ok, another mission, Yada Yada Yada, sigh”. Very good mix of action, then silent despair. Wow!

Pere Perez cover is the most striking that I have seen on any cover in a good long while. I literally grabs your attention right from the start. Spectacular work!

All together, this is a good jumping on issue. No major arcs going on, but enough to get any new reader up to speed. Good thing that Valiant does a good job with “The story so far…) on the inside cover
