David: Sunstone Volume 2 and Wayward #7

The second volume of Stjepan Sejic’s hit web-comic arrives on shelves this week. This volume sees a lot of character growth, Ally and Lisa are getting to know each other better, in a non-sexual way, as their relationship builds. Ally shares with Lisa some of her personal history, how she and Alan became friends and the one tragic incident that makes Ally so guarded. We are also introduced to a much larger world as we meet new friends. Sunstone is one of the best love stories being told in modern comics, it’s a great story with a very human element at its core. If you haven’t read Sunstone yet, you are really missing out.

Wayward is just a great series that I have to keep recommending it. Jim Zub and Steve Cummings have created a fun world to explore. Ohara begins to understand her new ability. Will she join Ayane and Nikaido fight? More importantly, where’s Rori Lane? Ayane makes a discovery that may answer that question. Things are getting interesting in Wayward, it’s not too late to jump aboard.

Gaumer: Red One #2

I have a huge crush on Vera Yelnikov, and you will too if you read this series. Red One is about a Russian Spy who becomes America’s favorite super-heroine, but it’s all about that girl. This is definitely on the top of my stack this week.

The U.S.S.R.’s top agent, Vera Yelnikov, is working undercover in 1977 Los Angeles as Alabama Jones, a.k.a. RED ONE, America’s greatest hero! Red One takes on her fiercest foe yet, the fascist serial killer – THE CARPENTER, in a funky superhero romp by TERRY & RACHEL DODSON (Uncanny X-Men, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Harley Quinn) and XAVIER DORISON (Long John Silver, The Third Testament).
