Review: Uncanny X-Men #32

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Pencils: Chris Bachalo

After being possessed by the Phoenix Force Cyclops decided to start a Mutant Revolution to atone for what he did as the Phoenix. Cyclops, with his broken powers, gather a hodge podge team of new mutants and started a school of his own. Things have not exactly gone to plan since  This entire title has lead to this point, what will Cyclops do with the Mutant Revolution? What was it all for? Will he really give up his school and students? Where does this title go from here? Did I ask enough questions? The answers are in this issue, and my last question was it worth the wait?

The Good

As A huge Bachalo fan this issue is one of many stellar looking issues he has produced since this title began. With All-New X-Men bogged down with Black Vortex stuff, Uncanny was the Bendis X-title I was looking to be impressed by and this issue was it. For all you Cyclops fans out there this is one of those key characterization moments coming full circle. This issue reminded me of one of the many reasons I’ve always read the X-Men. Incredibly compelling characters.  This is one of those issues that stings as you can feel the run ending but you begin to cling onto all the moments that have kept you in it.

The Bad

This is the part where I remind everyone if you wanted action packed pick up a Wolverine title, the X-Men while can be action packed, have always been a story about trying to find the best in us all. I know you want to see the X-Men kick butt, however we can’t have that in every issue. SO if you are not a fan of those brilliant stories that has lots of characterization and quality plot, this one just might not be for you.

The Verdict

I really felt satisfied after finishing this issue. It was one of those issues I knew was coming and pretty much knew how it was gonna go down, but felt a huge sigh of relief when done. Cyclops may not be a favorite but there character has been a very integral part of the X-Story, and this issue was an integral part of his story. Its def worth picking up, even if you haven’t touched this title its a good Cyclops issue. Also love the cover.
