“Book 1”

Spies. Secrets. Women. Badassery. Up until now not much was known about the world’s greatest ninja spy. What he has to do to prepare for a mission. And the reasons as to why he does what he does. As most spies go, there are layers to Colin, and just like an onion, it could bring you to tears.

Matt Kindt really expand the world view on our favorite ninja. From how his home is nearly impenetrable, to how he has to hold himself back sometimes just to get the mission done, to some of the traumas he had to endure. Very well done.

Clay Seth in Ulises had too much fun on this issue. My jaw dropped on the inside cover illustration. Well done on that. Also the design on the “villains” in the story were amazing. Agent Roku is straight up badass.

All together the story was exciting. Well worth the wait for our favorite ninja to get his own title.

“The Lost Files”

Writer: Matt Kindt
Artist: Butch Guice
Colors: Ulises Arreola
Letters: Dave Sharpe

Trials and tribulations is the game in this story. Learning what one must go through to become an undercover MI:6 member. Set in the past, we now see our favorite ninja wasn’t always so quick on his feet.

Matt Kindt tells a gritty, realistic story taken straight out of something you would see in the movie “Black Rain”. Dark, and a little bit terrifying. Brilliantly executed storyline that flows pretty fast, but not so fast you get lost in the crowd.

Butch and Ulises just kill it in this story! They perfectly get the look from a Ridley Scott movie. From the facial expressions, to the colors used to shadow the whole story, as if it were fortelling the life that Ninjak was about to lead.

Wow! This whole issue was so fun to read. It has elements of James Bond, to Ridley Scott movies. I am excited for this series. There is some great stuff coming down the way from Valiant on this one!
