J. Michael Straczynski Tapped to Take Kim Stanley Robinson’s ‘Red Mars’ to TV

In what marks the return to TV of one of my favorite writers, Deadline reports that J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame is adapting Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars for SpikeTV.Mars TrilogyRobinson’s hard science-fiction epic about the colonization of Mars is one of my favorite novel series of all time, and if anyone can translate this vivid and deep series for the small screen it’s JMS.

Hopefully we get the whole trilogy over a period of 10+ seasons, but the RGB Mars series is a prime candidate for the trendy big cast, big ideas’ sort of shows that are so successful.
