Neil deGrasse Tyson’s ‘StarTalk Radio’ Picked Up as Late Night Show by NatGeo

Outright Geekery’s favorite triple threat (That’s astrophysicist, cosmologist, and author), science superstar Neil deGrasse Tyson can add one more bullet point to a resume that includes narrator, speaker, successful podcast host, comic book star, and director of the Hayden Planetarium and the American Museum of Natural History.

Neil Degrasse TysonStarting in April, Tyson will be hosting a late night talk show on the National Geographic Channel. The program will be based on Tyson’s already highly successful podcast “Star Talk Radio”, and will see ‘America’s Scientist’ performing hosting duties on a TV talk show with the same name.

“It’s a mixture of comedy, science and pop culture. I’m the host, yet I’m the scientist! And my guests are hardly ever scientists,” Tyson said at Winter TV Press Tour 2015, according to “Our goal is to hew them from pop culture.”

Bill NyeAlong with those guests, each episode will feature a one-minute rant from Bill Nye (The Science Guy) in the style of the old Andy Rooney segments on “60 Minutes,” The Hollywood Reporter said.

The Star Talk Radio website stated that the shows would be filmed at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City in front of a live studio audience.

The entire Outright Geekery crew couldn’t be more excited about science moving more and more into the mainstream, and if there’s one piece of news that could help us all get over the lack of a new Cosmos series in 2015 this is definitely it.
