Anthony “Tony” Stark was born to parents Howard and Maria Stark. The Starks were owners of the prominent US firm, Stark Industries. As a boy, Tony was fascinated with building and controlling machines. Always tinkering away, Tony entered the undergrad engineering program at MIT at the age of 15. Tony graduated with two master’s degrees by age 19. Tony went to work for Stark Industries, but showed more interest in living a reckless playboy lifestyle than using his engineering skills. Tony inherited Stark industries at the age of 21 when his parents were killed in a car crash. The crash was later revealed to have been setup buy rival company Republic Oil(They call themselves ROXXON nowadays). Tony still new to the entire business world, Tony promoted secretary Virginia “Pepper” Potts to be his executive assistant and left the majority of his workload on her so that he could avoid what he saw as a burden.
Having Potts run through all of the business and bureaucratic side of things it freed Tony to do more. Within a few years he turned it into a multi-billion dollar industry complex whose chief contracts were for advanced weaponry and munitions for the U.S. government.Tony personally attended a field test of his military hardware at one of his international plants; however, soon after his arrival Stark’s party was attacked by a gang of terrorists led by the Sin-Cong member Wong Chu. During the attack a land mine is triggered and a piece of shrapnel is lodged in Tony’s chest near his heart. Tony was taken back to Wong Chu’s hideout. Tony was lodged into a cell Ho Yinsen, a famous physicist.
Wong Chu demanded that Tony and Yinsen develop him a new weapons for his forces. . Tony knew he could not survie long with the shrapnel in his chest and asked Yinsen devote their gifts to creating one of the battlesuits he had been developing, equipped with a magnetic field generator to prevent the shrapnel from reaching his heart. The armor they created became the first true Iron Man armor. While the armor’s battery as being powered, some of Wong-Chu’s men attempted to break in on the proceedings.Yinsen went to create a diversion and was shot to death. When the battery had finished charging, Tony went into battle as Iron Man and tore Wong-Chu’s camp apart. After the madness Tony found himself being rescued and taken back to the US. A member of the rescue was US Marine James “Rhodey” Rhodes. Tony offered Rhodey a job should he ever need one.
After he returned to the states Tony struggled with the need for his chest plate. It constantly need to be recharged became a heavy burden on Tony as he was forced to cut matters short often. Stark found it best to keep the chest plate a secret from everyone including his then fiancé Joanna Nivena, fearing it might been seen as a sign of weakness. Soon the torment drove Stark to heavy drinking and he began to feel suicidal. In his madness Stark thought to redesign the suit he had used to save himself creating what would become his famous armor. Stark also shared the idea with his fiancé who encouraged him to don the armor for the sake of doing some good. Stark became Iron Man but at the cost of his would be marriage as Joanna saw he would be no family man with his new double life.
Stark made the choice to reveal he had created the Iron Man armor to the public but that the man inside was his bodyguard. Only his most trusted employees Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan knew Tony Stark was Iron Man. After some time of well establishing Iron Man as a true hero for the world, Stark found himself called to force to stop the Hulk. Which was a ploy by Loki the whole time. Iron Man would team up with Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp, and the Hulk which would be the day when the Avengers were founded!
