Do You Know this Avenger?

Thats right folks the segment you didn’t even know you missed is back! JulesTrue is back in action folks and I’m here to bring you the goods! As we all know Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has quite the roster, and you may not know everyone who’s filled that roster. Well thankfully I do! From East Coast to West Coast. From Secret to Uncanny. I’ll be bringing them to you every week right here on OUTRIGHT GEEKERY!

This week we are going back to the early days of the additions to the roster. This Avenger has been a long standing fave of mine and many will agree a total bad@$$ in his own right. One of the few remaining heroes on the Avengers who doesn’t even have powers. And what else is crazy is he started his career as a villain. That’s right folks this weeks Avenger is everyone’s favorite purple Archer, the guy that has punched Cap and Ironman in the face more than any other hero!

Clint Barton was orphaned at an early age when his parents died in a car accident and was sent to a children’s home with his brother Bernard. He and his brother ran away to join the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonders and the pair worked as roustabouts. While a member of the circus, Hawkeye was trained by the first Swordsman and Trickshot. Clint was made the assistnat of the Swordsman who began to show him the way of the Bow and Arrow. With the help of Trickshot the trio worked day and night at helping Clint to become a master archer. Clint’s life was forever changed when one night when he caught the Swordsman counting money he had stolen from the Carnival. The Swordsman offered Clint to join him as his partner in crime, however Clint rejected the offer. Clint’s refusal ignited a fight between him and his mentor which ended in the Swordsman leaving Clint for dead from the highwire. Sadly Clint’s brother Barney abandoned him when he heard that Clint passed up such a great offer. The original Trickshot stepped in to mentor young Clint recognizing his skills with a bow and arrow.

Trickshot asked him to join him in raiding a criminal named Marko. However, Clint severely injured one of Marko’s guards and discovered him to be his brother, Barney. Repelled by the consequences of his actions (and his mentor’s role in prompting them), he abandoned Trickshot and parted on bad terms. Clint began honing his skills and wandering the country looking for ways to make money working out of various carnivals. Clint soon began to developing the “Hawkeye” persona. Clint saw Iron Man save people and thought he could take to the streets as Hawkeye. Sadly his first time out as Hawkeye he was mistaken for a villain and was accused of theft he did not commit. While on the run Hawkeye met the Black Widow, a soviet spy whom he fell in love with.

Hawkeye found himself madly in love but was aware that Black Widow was leading him down a path of crime, and soon began to have a strong distaste for their misdeeds. Blindly doing whatever Black Widow asked of him, she convinced Hawkeye to aid her in stealing Stark Tech. Hawkeye and Iron Man clashed a couple of times. One of the last times they clashed Black WIdow was seriously injured. Hawkeye was forced to leave the battle field to get Black Widow to safety. While on their way to the hospital Black Widow just disappeared. Hawkeye then decided he would no longer let people lead him down the wrong path, and he would now make a good name for himself as a hero.

Sometime later Hawkeye resuces Edwin Jarvis(The real person, the butler for the Avengers/IronMan not that A.I. you hear in the movies or the cartoons.) and his mother from a mugger. Hawkeye convinces him that he’s taking to being a hero and arranges for Hawkeye to meet with the Avengers. Hawkeye proves himself and is sponsred by Iron Man of all people to replace him and join Captain America’s new Avengers. Hawkeye is enlisted along with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver(for those who’ve read my previous Quicksilver post you already knew that, and if you didn’t you should!) So began Hawkeye’s long standing on and off career with Avengers!
